The Internet is a crucial engine for economic growth and free speech. From its beginnings, the Internet has leveled the playing field for all comers. Everyday people can have their voices heard by thousands, even millions of people.
A free and neutral internet is now under assault by large corporate interests. On June 9, 2006 the House of Representatives voted against an amendment that would make Net Neutrality enforceable. The current congressional moratorium that prohibits the telecommunications giants from violating Net Neutrality is due to expire in August, 2006.
For those of us who value free speech and a level economic playing field, the time to act is now. The Senate will be voting on the Internet Freedom Preservation Act (S. 2917). Time is of the essence. Save Network Marketing Freedom
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has proposed a new rule (Business Opportunity Rule, R511993) that will negatively affect the direct market selling industry, requiring companies and direct sellers to alter their sales methods so that, under the new rule, it will be easier to buy furniture, appliances, automobiles costing thousands of dollars than it will be to join a multi-level marketing company. In fact, the proposed FTC guidelines make it easier to purchase hand guns or assault rifles than to join a multi-level company.
