Sinus Infection

"When I received my first order of Essential Oils I started inhaling the Peppermint Oil the very first day for my swollen nasal passages and sinus problem. Within minutes I had relief. After two days I was completely clear in the nasal passages. Now for the first time in years I have gone through a spring without headaches, dripping nose, breathing problems and a sinus infection. Also, I have for years awakened in the morning with a low back ache. I started applying a few drops of the Birch Oil to the pain area in my low back as soon as I woke up and this gave me immediate relief. I then added the Lavender Oils at bed time with my wife applying drops on my spine from my skull to my tail bone. I am now waking up in the morning free of pain. And, I do not need my eye glasses any more in order to read the newspaper, or for working at my desk and my computer. I do not know which of the Essential Oils is responsible for this wonderful happening as I was not using the oils for this purpose. One day I noticed I was reading the newspaper without my reading glasses and realized they were folded and laying on top of my desk. I had not needed my reading glasses for days."

When ever I have a headache from sinus congestion I use R.C. (it stands for repertory condition). I place a few drops on my forehead then under my nose. If I am coughing I have my husband mix a few drops of R.C.and V-6 oil and rub my back and chest. I then wrap up in a blanket for 30 to 60 minuets take a nap and brake the congestion or cold I was on the verge of getting. I feel it is important to take some sleep time so the oils can work better without interference of being active. I have always gotten better results. R.C. contains eleven oil which four of them are different eucalyptus oils.
I always carry a bottle in my purse in the fall and winter. A great way to share with people you come in contact with.

When I was introduced to Young Living Essential oils in 1996, I looked through the book to decide what to order. I ordered the Essential 7 kit, and myrtle oil, because it is supposed to be beneficial for sinuses. Since I was a small child I have had at least four sinus infections every year. It would begin with a sinus cold, then move into the chest as bronchitis, and linger from four to six weeks.
I have always been very sensitive to drugs. Even a quarter dose of decongestant puts me to sleep. Antibiotics had no effect. I felt doomed to suffer, dragging myself through months of low energy, dripping, coughing, disturbed rest, fever and pain.
My myrtle oil arrived, and in October so did my sinus infection. I used myrtle directly on my sinuses, my cheekbones and forehead. I had relief from symptoms, with not drowsiness or side effects. This myrtle oil is great stuff! I thought. In January, my next sinus infection appeared. I used the myrtle. To my amazement, the whole illness completed its course in about a week, rather than the month it would usually take.
Then in March, I felt the familiar signs of a sinus infection on the way. I used myrtle, and the sinus infection NEVER DEVELOPED. That was my last sinus infection for 3 years! Any time I felt the symptoms begin, I would apply myrtle and stop it in its tracks. As I keep using more and more oils, I don't get sick at all any more.
Just for the record, in January 1999, I gave my bottle of myrtle to a friend with a sinus infection. I had to take an airplane trip before my replacement bottle arrived from YL. Yes, I got a sinus infection on the way home. Fortunately, my order was waiting for me upon my return. I learned never to be without my myrtle.

Question: I would like to know if there are any anti-bacterial oils that can be applied using a q-tip inside one's nostrils. Since some of the oils are mucus irritant I would like to know the safer ones that can be applied deep inside the nose using a q-tip. I have antibiotic resistant toxin producing staph colonies inside my nose.
Answer: In a bottle put 1 tablespoon of V-6 mixing oil. To this add 3 drops RC, 5 drops Eucalyptus radiata, 2 drops Bergamot, 3 drops Peppermint and 3 drops Lemon. Shake and use Q-Tip to swab the inside of your nostrils. We use this before going to bed and sometimes in the morning.
